Hi everybody:

This is a late post in response to Dan Hass's overture regarding the Gray Kingbird. I left Garrett County early on Wed. morning after staying 2 nights at the Carey Run Sanctuary. I was chased out early by significant rain. Just as I arrived in Carroll County to work on a few county bird hopefuls I received a text from Bill Hubick about the Gray Kingbird and then hightailed it to the fort. I along with others missed the bird by less than an hour. Glad that I did not have to go all the way to the Eastern Shore or would have surely picked up a speeding ticket. I scanned for several hours and diligently checked every tree on the grounds of the fort to no avail.

After diligently checking every tree on the grounds of Fort McHenry and just now reading Dan's Star Spangled approach the Irish in me has kicked up the following:

The Gray Kingbird just was no longer there.
So many people were hoping to stare.
It felt the rain and the breeze.
Left us to believe it was still in the trees.
And disappeared without notice into thin air.

Heres to chasing the next rarity and hoping I am a little bit more lucky...
