I spotted the Upland Sandpiper on Oland Road this morning about 9:45. I had scanned the fields for about 20 minutes and then finally the bird stood up and was visible.

It was to the right of the two distant trees that John had used as a landmark and was walking to the right (west), dipping down. It was at the back of the grass. See Jared's photo. I was distracted by a Savannah Sparrow that had landed on a nearby post and swung the scope to see this bird. Bad move. I could not find the Sandpiper again.

Other birds of note:

Eastern Meadowlark
Grasshopper Sparrow singing (well, its beak was open!)

Thanks to Kathy, Jared and John for their tips.
