Driving into work this morning on the west side of I-695, and saw a YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON fly parallel to the beltway over the treetops between the Route 40 and Security Blvd exits (Woodlawn). His legs were down and I assume he was looking to land in the trees nearby. Not sure if there are nesting grounds nearby, although I believe they've been seen not far from Security Blvd and Woodlawn Drive in the past (Dead Run is near there.)
