Spent about an hour, from 8-9 am this morning, at both the Giant and
Our Lady of Victory sites in the Arbutus area. Despite my best attempts
to turn every odd-plumaged Mallard into a Black-Bellied Whistling Duck,
they did not show. This doesn't necessarily mean the birds have flown -
even from those two vantage points, there are parts of the pond and
shoreline that are not visible. 

 

   At the church/school site, I encountered an employee in a
maintenance-type truck and explained what I was doing there. He said to
go right ahead, and I was able to walk the fenceline for 30 minutes
without any hassle or inquiries.
