Again, an extralimital video link posting ... please do not reply to
the listserver ...

Back in March, I posted a message providing a link to a Barn Owl
nestbox web camera from San Marcos, CA (near San Diego). Molly the
Owl's first brood fledged last month and now she is sitting again on
a second brood of four eggs. Many people have found this owl and her
family to be very entertaining and educational. Because of an
associated chat room and social stream (optional), the phenomena has
almost become cult-like with a number of events and products spouting
out from the hosts and observers.

Regardless, the video links are very good quality and you can learn a
lot about Barn Owls from them. A number of elementary schools held
live on-line talks with the homeowners during the first brood and
this was all picked up by both local and national media.

Here are the links ...

The two streaming video links are provided by the service provider
Ustream and you have to put up with an annoying video commercial when
you first connect ... but hey, that's how they earn their money!

http://www.ustream.tv/theowlbox This video stream of the inside of
the owl nest box is active day (visible) and night (UV)

http://www.ustream.tv/theowlbox2 This nighttime-only video
steam ("owl box 2") is an exterior UV view of the owl box; when the
first brood was fledging, the entertainment of the owlets on and
around the box was ... well, a hoot (sorry)

http://mollysbox.wordpress.com/blog/ This is a general blog site
with links to still images and other various related information

Usual disclaimers ...

Enjoy!

Phil
