Hey everyone-

I joined Leslie Starr and Joe Turner early this morning on what was supposed to be a day of crane-chasing and Cecil County-listing.  We arrived at Meadow Park in Elkton at around 7am, and promptly found the SANDHILL CRANE under the pines that it has been frequenting for a few days now.  We were able to enjoy this beautiful bird for about an hour, during which it moved across the park towards the entrance.  After snapping a few photos of the bird, we left it feeding by the side of Delaware Ave. at around 8:30am.

Soon after, we got a phone call from Jim Green alerting us to his awesome find in Washington County.  After a short period of deliberation, we decided to book it across 5 counties to Washington County, and we arrived at the small pond (previously mentioned by Bob Ringler) at around 11:30am.  While we were entertained by the Killdeer and Solitary Sandpipers, we did not see the Ibis, and after about an hour of watching and waiting, we headed back down Route 66 to hit the interstate and head home.  Just before we hit the roundabout, at about 12:30pm, we saw a Great Egret and a couple of Great Blue Herons in a small pond on the right side of the road (going south).  Seeing no reason not to do a quick check, we hopped out of the car and scanned the pond and the few canals around it.  Within a few seconds we refound Jim's immature WHITE IBIS towards the back of one of the far canals, and we quickly alerted Dave Russell, Dave Weesner, and the rest of the
birders who had joined in our earlier futile watch of the bird's previous hangout.  All in all, a great day of birding.

Photos (of the Ibis, Crane, and BBWD (from w couple weeks ago) ) are up at:
