Hi All,

After finding the drained millpond at St. Pauls on Ricauds Branch Rd
(near the junction of the latter and Sandy Bottom Rd south of MD-20)
yesterday I decided to return with a spotting scope this morning. Not
too bad. I counted 7 Great Egrets, 9 Great Blue Herons, just 1 Green
Heron, a first-year (white) LITTLE BLUE HERON, and 3 first-year SNOWY
EGRETS. The shorebirds I found were 130 Least Sandpipers, 24
Semipalmated Sandpipers, 10 Pectoral Sandpipers, 14 Lesser Yellowlegs, 6
Killdeer, and a Solitary Sandpiper. Also present were 2 Bald Eagles and
a kingfisher. The main auto tour was more low key although there was a
Spotted Sandpiper at the pond just before the turnaround near the end of
the tour and a single Lesser Yellowlegs, a few Killdeer, and some Least
Sandpipers on the various ponds.

Good birding,

Walter Ellison
