Hi Everybody:

Helen Patton and I started early Wednesday morning at North Beach in Calvert County. We found Tri-colored Heron (1), imm. Yellow-crowned Night Heron (1), Snowy Egrets (47) and 1 flyover Great Egret. We did not see the Stilt Sandpiper that had been previously reported.

We did not find the imm. Yellow-crowned Night Heron at Herrington Harbor but decided not to poke around too much because the office was not yet open. We then went up to the lake in Fairhaven and found the Tri-colored Heron that had been reported there Anne Arundel County).

We stopped by Sandy Point (also A.A. ) and found the imm. Yellow-crowned Night Heron that Kathy Calvert had reported from Mezick Lake. (Thanks Kathy!).

We spent the later part of the afternoon in Caroline County looking for shorebirds. We found only one small puddle on Kibler Road that contained nothing whatsoever. We found some shorebirds on Line Road:

21 Least, 2 Pectoral, 1 Spotted, 4 Solitary, and 1 Semipalmated Sandpipers along with 5 Killdeer.

Our last stop was at Tanyard where conditions were ideal for shorebirds; unfortunately all we saw were 5 Least Sandpipers. We heard and then saw 4 Common Moorhens and there was 1 Least Tern.

Despite the heat we had another succesful day in the field; Helen picked up 8 new county ticks and I had 4.
