I spent some time in Garrett and Allegany Counties (MD) today. I spent too much time locating Old Morgantown Road east of the river, but a quick phone call to Jim Green got me to the right place (Thanks, Jim) - the Youghiogney Reservoir CWMA at the end of Old Morgantown Road west of the river. As I was walking down the road, Kathy Calvert drove in and she had been there earlier in the day and knew to go left at the end of the road. We saw 40-50 Killdeer plus 2 Pectoral Sandpipers, 2 Spotted Sandpipers and 6 Least Sandpipers, but no Dowitchers or Stilt Sandpipers and no Great Egret. Kathy had to leave, but I walked the trail and then went out again to the widening part of the river and added 2 Semipalmated Sandpipers.
On the way back east, I stopped at the C&O Canal Terminus in Cumberland, Allegany Co, MD and the previously reported Great Egret was there down river from the bridge accompanied by a Green Heron.
