This AM I was half awake when the dawn chourus started up. Since it was a
pleasant night we slept with the windows open and the a/c off. Listening to
all the Robins, Chipping Sparrows, Catbirds and other local gang I soon
realized a newcomer had joined in - a SCREECH OWL. Anyne ever have that
happen before?

Friday morn I walked the NCR Trail up at Freedom Road near the PA line and
had a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO and a WORM-EATING WARBLER that chipped at me like
I was near a fledgling.

Yesterday we went over to Lilyponds hoping to find a cooperative Least
Bittern. This is not an easy bird to find under any circumstances. Laura
still needs it for her life list. We got a bunch of COMMON EGRETS, GREEN
HERONS, GREAT BLUES, KINGFISHERS and a juv. BALD EAGLE, but no bittern of
any kind. Probably need to go on a canoe trip thru a marsh somewhere.
