Good morning all,
This morning a Baltimore Oriole returned to the yard to feast on some of the abundant wild cherries along the edge of our property. They did not nest here this year and I have only heard or seen one once this summer, so his return was a nice surprise. Also, I saw a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher feeding low in the cherry trees, presumably on insects. My first sighting of this species in our yard was also on August 7 in 2008, and my only other two sightings are in August and September.
