Hi Folks,

During a routine semi-weekly survey of Swan Creek Wetland (near the
Key Bridge in AA Co.), Ed Carlson and I were fortunate to find an
immature WHITE IBIS, and in the same tree with it was a TRICOLORED
HERON at about 7:15 a.m. Both birds were in a dead tree at the edge
of the main road, and sadly both birds flushed with many Little Blue
Herons, heading out over the river and then towards Carroll Island
when last seen. Dan Haas and Joe Hanfman arrived a bit after 8 a.m.,
but the birds had not returned, though Dan saw the Tricolor briefly
flying along the north edge of the property. White Ibis is a new bird
for the property, and the Tricolor is a second record.

Shorebirds are increasing in number, but not yet in variety. This
morning, with the wetland flooded by high tide all the shorebirds were
in the north dredge cell, and they are very difficult to see in the
morning looking into the sun. Anyway, I tallied one LESSER
YELLOWLEGS, five SPOTTED SANDPIPERs, and 40 LEAST SANDPIPERs, and a
couple of Killdeer. Also of interest is a single RUDDY DUCK, also in
the north cell, which has been here for several weeks.
