Checked for the Upland Sandpipers today in Frederick County. I found two in the same field they have frequented in the past week -- SW corner of Buckeystown and Oland Roads. It was about 11:30 am and raining hard, but they were moving and feeding, about 200 yards down west on Oland Road to the left. I then checked Lily Pons. The rain let up long enough to cruise the impoundments taking the path to the right of the white house. About 4 impoundments in, a Least Bittern hopped up on a cattail, froze for a minute, and then flew to the next impoundment north into more cattails. Haven't seen one of those for a decade. Good birding. David |
