Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from August 23,2010
This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island. The summary of bird
observations that follows was taken by permission from the U. S. Army Corps
of Engineers and MD Port Administration, August 2010, Fauna Monitoring
Report for the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar
Island.
Some of the birds were seen from the boat during the trip from
Tilghman Island and back.
Note the presence of two species of Phalaropes and also the presence
of numerous DC Cormorants, Osprey and Black-necked Stilts.
