Sorry Pat, there is no danger in looking at the moon through a telescope.
The light that we see from the mooon is reflected off the surface and does not
carry risks to your vision from solar radiation. The reason that astronomers use
a filter is to cut down on the glare from the reflected light and allow more
detail to be seen through their scopes. A lunar filter would probably be of
assistance when doing prolonged moon watches just to relieve the glare that the
viewer is experiencing. Most eye discomfort comes from staring and blinking less
frequently, resulting in eye dryness.

Please, everyone, be aware that looking at a full moon through a scope can
do serious damage to your vision. Astronomy buffs always use a filter on
their scopes when viewing the moon.  A half moon is much easier on the eyes,
but even then you should have a lunar filter on your scope.

You should NEVER look at the full moon through an unfiltered scope.
