This afternoon I had a meeting on the east side of town, so I squeezed in a
little time to check out Perryman Park near Aberdeen. I only had bins with
me, and very little time, but it was pretty clear that the Red-necked
Phalarope was absent. There were perhaps 75 shorebirds, including about 10
KILLDEER, a few each of GREATER and LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 2 SPOTTED SANDPIPER, and
the rest peeps. Among the peeps were at least 4 WESTERN SANDPIPERS that I
could confidently identify without a scope, the majority of the rest being
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS of various age classes. There may have been better
birds out there. The habitat is getting really good.
There were also 3 GREEN-WINGED TEAL.
