Hi al --

Barry and I went out about 7 AM to Wheaton regional Park, but I had to leave
at 8:30 for a dental appointment. Too bad as it was pretty active, with good
numbers of the more common species. Barry dropped me off home and went over
to Brookside Botanical Gardens where he proceeded to grip me off with TWO
Olive-sided Flycatchers on opposite high snags about 100 yards apart, right
in the main parking area (near the Visitor's Center). Brilliant views of
both at same time, he reports (groan!). Anyway, no interaction between the
two birds, just sitting up. They were still there at 10:30 AM.

It was active early in the park (area near the mini train station and
carousel) but by the time Barry got to Brookside there were lots of joggers
and walkers so not much else added to the list (other than the two O-Ss and
a Wilson's).

Bird of interest:

Red-shouldered Hawk - 2
Osprey - 1 (flyover)
Belted Kingfisher - 1
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - 5
Eastern Wood-pewee - 15
Eastern Phoebe - 1
Acadian Flycatcher - 1 (really bright plumage)
"Traill's Flycatcher - 2 (one looked more like Willow, one like Alder --
contrasty, very long primary projection, but who knows...? As usual,
silent.)
OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER - 2
Scarlet Tanager - 6
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - 2
Red-eyed Vireo - 15+
Black-throated Green Warbler - 3
Black-and-White Warbler - 12
Black-throated Blue Warbler - 1 female
BLUE-WINGED WARBLER - 1
Canada Warbler - 1 juvenile, getting late for this species
Chestnut-sided Warbler - 10
Magnolia Warbler - 10
American Redstart - 15
Tennessee Warbler - 2
Wilson's Warbler - 1
Common Yellowthroat - 12
Rose-breasted Grosbeak - 6
Chipping Sparrow - 8

Numbers of both Robins and Catbirds down but still plenty around...
