Hi all --

Went over to WRP again as it is so close (and with teeny pups we can't leave
home for too long). Did the usual areas near the picnic grove/train
station/lake. Just as the sun broke through a large, excited and rapidly
moving mixed flock came through right along the parking lot edge -- it was
very exciting! Then the sun went in and everything went to sleep. After
about an hour of dribs and drabs of birds, more sun and another little flock
near the lake. Finally quieted down for good at about 10 AM. An obvious
change from yesterday, the hoards of Pewees and Grosbeaks had "flown the
coop" -- many more Flickers however. No Olive-sided FC but still a few
interesting Empids and couple of Philly Vireos, including one seen by Knut
Waagan whom we met there. 12 species of warbler, some in good number.

Birds of interest:

Green Heron - 1
Broadwinged Hawk - 1 (being chased by 3 Crows and a resident Red-shouldered;
it dove into the trees for cover!)
Red-shouldered Hawk - 2
Belted Kingfisher - 2
Yellow-shafted Flicker - 15+
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - 3
Eastern Wood-Pewee - 3
Eastern Phoebe - 1
"Traill's" Flycatcher - 2 (probably Willow)
YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER - 1 (very bright juvenile; so bright that I
thought it was a Goldfinch when first glimpsed!)
Empid sp. - 2
Swainson's Thrush - 1
Eastern Bluebird - fly-overs heard calling
Brown Thrasher - 2
House Wren - 8
Red-eyed Vireo - 12
PHILADELPHIA VIREO - 2 (1 seen by Knut)
Scarlet Tanager - 1
Black-and-White Warbler - 5
Black-throated Blue Warbler - 3
Black-throated Green Warbler - 3
Chestnut-sided Warbler - 5
Magnolia Warbler - 10+
Nashville Warbler - 2 (1 seen by Knut)
Northern Waterthrush - 1
Ovenbird - 1
Northern Parula - 6
American Redstart - 12+
Tennessee Warbler - 2 (1 seen by Knut)
Common Yellowthroat - 15+
Rose-breasted Grosbeak - 4
Chipping Sparrow - 12+
