There was also a lovely Hooded Warbler on the Capital Crescent Trail in Georgetown at lunchtime (my lunchtime and his too).

I saw Wallace's posting from Rock Creek Park in DC this morning that a Hooded Warbler was found in the ravine behind the Maintenance Yard.  That would have been a Life bird for me, so I headed up there at 1:15pm to see if there was any chance of refinding it.  After about 35 minutes, one of the tractors in the Yard was started up and backfired in an extremely loud manner.  House wrens scattered from the ravine along with a flash of yellow - the Hooded Warbler.

So, many thanks to the National Park Service and a backfiring backhoe for giving me fantastic looks at a new life bird.  I got one good photo:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/sherseydc/4993946504/

I also saw one Common Redstart, 4 Common Yellowthroats and a Red-shouldered Hawk that buzzed me minutes after I arrived.

Cheers all,
