I went by the Recycling Center Pond before work today and the mix of shorebirds was pretty much as reported yesterday. The highlight was the lone Dunlin foraging on the near shore. Other shorebirds included 29 Least Sandpipers, 5 Semipalmated Sandpipers, 8 Pectoral Sandpipers, 5 Lesser Yellowlegs, 3 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 late Solitary Sandpiper, 1 Spotted Sandpiper, and 5 Killdeer. Thank you to Jim and Rob for posting about these birds. The last time I had checked this pond (several weeks back), the water level was extremely high and there were no shorebirds. However, even with last night's showers, the pond level is now very low, with lots of exposed mudflats. So, the shorebird numbers should be decent for the near future.
