Hi all --

Being such a hot sultry (and foggy!) morning we decided to see what might be
lurking in the extensive meadows around the Trolley Museum in NW Branch
Park. Not expecting many migrants and we were not disappointed! However, we
did have great views of a very cooperative, bright LINCOLN'S SPARROW. In
fact, it was sitting on a small briar twig which must have had some
interesting insect infestation as in quick succession, the twig was occupied
by: Lincoln's Sparrow, White-eyed Vireo, Indigo Bunting, Lincoln's Sp.
again, then two Yellowthroats and then a Catbird! All feeding on some small
unseen tidbits. We also had good numbers of some birds which other have
reported scarce this autumn.

Birds of Interest:

Red-shouldered Hawk - 1
Red-tailed Hawk - 1
Cooper's Hawk - 1
AMERICAN KESTREL - 1
MOURNING DOVE - 100+ (maybe they are all here!)
Northern Flicker - 6
Chimney Swift - 20+
Eastern Phoebe - 6
Eastern Wood-pewee - 1
Gray Catbird - 15
Brown Thrasher - 2
Eastern Bluebird - 6 (plus others heard overhead)
House Wren - 6
White-eyed Vireo -1
Magnolia Warbler - 2
American Redstart - 1
Common Yellowthroat - 6
Indigo Bunting - 6
SONG SPARROW - 6 (would normally expect 20+ here)
LINCOLN'S SPARROW - 1
House Finch - 50+ (very high count)
Eastern Towhee - 3

Didn't see any Palm Warblers which was a bit of a surprise...
