Hi all,

I wasn't expecting much from a lunchtime stroll around Roosevelt
Island in DC today, but it ended up being quite nice. Eight warbler
species:

Nashville Warbler 1
Northern Parula 1
Magnolia Warbler 2
Black-throated Blue Warbler 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler (Myrtle) 1
Palm Warbler 1
Black-and-white Warbler 1
American Redstart 1

Other good birds were a Scarlet Tanager and a Wood Thrush (haven't
seen many yet this fall). Downy Woodpeckers seemed to have multiplied
ten-fold in just a few days, as have Catbirds.

A Bald Eagle was grabbing sticks from the south end of Roosevelt
Island and carrying them over the water to the Virginia side of the
Roosevelt Bridge. Obviously building a nest somewhere over there.

Cheers,
