Just a general FYI. There are road closings throughout St. Mary's County due to
high standing water or washed out roads. To my knowledge, if you are using the
main route down 235 to Rt. 5 to the park, you should have no issues. There had
been a detour around Rt. 235 just south of Great Mills Road (the second base
access from the north) but that water had receded before 0700.

If you are planning on driving down Rt. 5 from further north, you will need to
detour at Rt. 4 then on to Rt. 235. The branch of the St. Mary's River that runs
under Rt. 5 near Great Mills Road, Flat Iron Road and Indian Bridge Road has
forced the road to be closed. If you can, do not use Rt. 5 but take Rt. 235
instead.

The weather today should be decent though windy. Good luck to all who chase it
today. You'll need patience and lots of eyes looking for movement. Those who
have been fortunate enough to see the bird have probably gotten a cumulative
total of viewing of only a few minutes.

I was at the Pt. Monday-Wednesday and still haven't seen the Cassin's. Does
anyone know if the park will be open tomorrow after the flooding St Marys
experienced today. Looks like my forth trip down may be on Saturday.
I am so happy for those who have seen, photographed and documented this special
bird. Thank you for keeping  the rest of us informed.

Happy birding,
