Hi all,

A very busy morning at Wheaton Regional Park today -- there had obviously
been a big influx of sparrows, hoards of Ruby-crowned Kinglets and the first
Myrtle Warblers in number. First Hermit Thrush for the year and also, the
first White-crowned Sparrow but the best bird was a first winter CONNECTICUT
WARBLER flushed from thick grass into the wood edge near the main trail by
the lake.

Birds of interest:

Red-shouldered Hawk - 1
Cooper's Hawk - 1
Belted Kingfisher - 2
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - 1
Eastern Phoebe - 8
Brown Thrasher - 1
Gray Catbird - 15+
Brown Creeper - 2
RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH - 1 (heard only)
HERMIT THRUSH - 1
Eastern Bluebird - flyovers heard only
Golden-crowned Kinglet - 12+
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 60+! (they were, literally, everywhere!)
Scarlet Tanager - 1 (seen by Evelyn Ralston)
Red-eyed Vireo - 2
Blue-headed Vireo - 4
Black-throated Blue Warbler - 10
Black-throated Green Warbler - 3
CONNECTICUT WARBLER - 1 first winter, flew just into woods, perched on a
twig for crippling views down to 8' and then calmly walked off into the
woods. Obvious was the bulky build, greenish back, complete white eye-ring,
greyish-brown hood but whitish throat, very long yellow undertail coverts
reaching almost to tip of tail, long pink legs.
Myrtle Warbler - 20+
Nashville Warbler - 1
Palm Warbler - 6 (1 was a Western Palm)
Tennessee Warbler - 1
Common Yellowthroat - 10
White-throated Sparrow - 50+
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW - 1 imm.
Swamp Sparrow - 6
Field Sparrow - 3
Chipping Sparrow - 30+
Dark-eyed Junco - 5
Song Sparrow - 15
Eastern Towhee - 8
