While enjoying an evening visit from our lingering RUBY-THROATED
HUMMINGBIRD, I noticed this very hip WHITE-THROATED SPARROW foraging
in the yard.

The bird is sporting the newest look for fall: a nearly complete bold,
white head, save for the yellow over the lores. Like a Snow Bunting x
White-throated Sparrow love gone wrong.

And our hummingbird was quite entertaining to watch feed tonight.
Instead of its typical gentle hovering and zippy flight, the bird
seemed to prefer clinging to the stalk and tackling the plants,
wrestling it's beak deep into the flowers, as the stalks bent under
the bird's immense weight.

I'm looking forward to what tomorrow may bring...

Good Birding,
