So the boy us asleep and I'm out on the back porch doing an autumn
Annapolis 'hawk watch'. For any of you who live in this neck of the
woods (Annapolis), you already know that the fall can be a bit slow
here. I had both vultures, a Bald Eagle, a Red-tail and one Osprey.
All but the Osprey I suspect are locals.

So I've turned my attention to this hummingbird that has spent the
past hour either working my plants (a variety of cardinal flower I
suspect) and picking bugs from spider webs from the evergreens. The
bird is a new arrival, different from the very dark one that we hosted
for the past few days. But most all of these hummers I've observed
lately have had spider webs at the base of their bill, giving them a
nice white appearance on their foreheads.

Four Tree Swallows flying over Weems Creek were nice to see as well.
Thinking I here the tinking of some Purple Finches, but none have
appeared in the yard as of yet.

Good Birding,
