This morning, Oct 16th, I saw a Sandhill Crane in flight near the
intersection of Rte 301 and Rte 213 in Queen Anne's County. The bird
appeared to be heading southwest, and since I was on Rte 301 heading east
the viewing was quite brief.
This afternoon an Osprey was using one of our walnut trees near
Tunis Mills as a feeding station.
For the past week a Red-breasted Nuthatch has been heard calling
daily on our property. A Yellow-bellied Sapsucker was calling here on
Friday. A Song Sparrow showed up in our garden on Friday also.
Last Monday I put out a little seed for the ground-feeding
sparrows and the next morning there were seven White-throated Sparrows
feasting at the site.
