While sifting through the sparrows at the retention pond near my house this
morning I had a brief view of what I think could be a Le Conte's Sparrow. I
first saw it out in the open, very briefly, it was small with a bright
yellowish impression/back-ground color, which is what caught my eye. It then
disappeared deep into a willow, I got a couple of lousy photos, and then it
flew into the grassy margin at the edge of a field, and I couldn't relocate it.

I've put a couple of photos on my Pbase site (link below, hope that comes
through!) - they are untouched but very heavily cropped. Several features
looked good for Le Conte's based on my brief views. The bill looks on the long
side?

I'd be grateful for opinions. I'll look for the bird again in the morning.

Also present today were 5 White-crowned, several Swamp and 1 Lincoln's Sparrow,
1 Purple, 1 Blue-headed Vireo, 10 Yellow-rumped Warblers and 1 Palm Warbler.
