Ospreyers,

In the Autumn 2010 Hawk Mountain News, there is a fascinating article by Robert L. Curry, Ph. D. and Professor of Biology at Villanova University, called "Changing Chickadees"  His research shows that Hawk Mountain Sanctuary chickadees, once consisting of all Black-caps, are now 30% hybrids.  He predicts a complete changeover  to Carolinas in time.  Dr. Curry kindly provided a link to this article on his homepage.  You will find it at the top of a list of his publications, several of which concern Black-capped and Carolina Chickadees.
