The kids had no school on election day so I decided to take them to Wye
Island. The best bird was the Golden Eagle that went by high overhead. It
was definitely heading in a southerly direction. A single Rose-breasted
Grosbeak feeding in a weedy field was also a nice find. A field just before
going onto Wye Island held at least 100 Killdeer. We had no ducks at the
Wye Island Bridge.

The raptors were out and moving and being harassed ... Crows going after a
Red-shouldered Hawk ... a Red Tailed Hawk bothering a Bald Eagle. The
strangest interaction occurred while watching a Pileated Woodpecker. The
Pileated was hitching its way up a tree when a Sharp-shinned Hawk entered
the picture and went after the Pileated. Must have been a pretty hungry
Sharpie. The Pileated did not appear to be injured. It flew up and the
Sharpie went after it again but then just gave up.

Numerous Purple Finches continue at the feeders along with Red-breasted
Nuthatches. Pine Siskins made an appearance a couple of days ago but did
not stick around.
