Hi all,

Went up to Blue Mash Nature Trail on this crisp autumn morning; it was pretty birdy. I had the whole place to myself.  The first surprise was flushing an AMERICAN WOODCOCK by the large pond, and the second was getting good looks at what I made out to be a Black capped Chickadee.  This chickadee had a LOT of  White on the wing edges,  very crisp, with a ragged bib. It 'chick a dee----dee" was slower- I've seen this species in West Virginia mountains quite a few times.
There was work going in the landfill area, so it was noisy, Only the Ruddy Duck on the big pond.
Later at Lake Needwood, (scheduled to be dredged this winter) I had 3 Rusty Blackbirds,
and a Great Egret that only had 1 leg. It's right leg was gone from the elbow down. It was still feeding good.
