Didn't intend to drive all the way to the mountains today but it was so
pretty we couldn't stop.

First thrill was a set of maybe 3 or 4 HORNED LARKS on Rt 77 on the way over
there. Numerous hawks out today, mostly Red-Tailed. No Kestrels (sniff).

Once in the mountains we got our target bird (huh?) - SURF SCOTER. Yeah, we
were a tad surprised, too. He was hanging out with some BUFFLEHEADS in the
middle of Hunting Creek Lake. Isn't this a bit far inland for them? We have
never encountered one off the coast, but maybe just haven't been lucky. I'd
say about 98% of our previous encounters with this bird were at Ocean City
inlet. Go figure.

Lots of JUNCOS around but little else.

Back in time to watch some Ravens in Carroll County (They'll be dining on
Dolphin today)
