In light of Helen Patton's post y'day, it might be of interest to add my own
sightings from a portion the same general area in Wicomico this AM.
Heavy winds, especially near the "coast" (of the Nanticoke) kept passerines
mostly hunkered out of sight, but at the Bivalve Trash Station, in the little
patch of woods left of the entrance, a pocket of sparrows included ~10 Wh-thr's
5 D-e Juncos,
1 Song Sp
1 Field Sp
1 LINCOLN'S SP
The river as seen off Nanticoke (the town) held
70 Ruddy Ducks
25 Buff'head; no others.
30 Laughing Gulls
8 Ring-billed G's
20 Gr Black-backed G's
The Rewastico Pond held no ducks of any kind.
The marsh along old Rt 50 yielded
1 Coopers Hawk
1 N Harrier
1 Bald Eagle ad.
1 Virginia Rail, calling
spontaneously at 1 pm
~30 Red-w B'birds, none rusty
