Hey Dan et al,

Also of note, a Common Ground-Dove showed up in Michigan this past week
(a little north of Saginaw) and was still being seen today - I can't
recall a fall with 3 vagrant Common Ground-Dove records. And a pair of
Anna's Hummingbirds is coming to a feeder in the upper peninsula.
Michigan and Ohio have also had Caves Swallows. I know that MI & OH are
a little farther afield, but it's always interesting to see what's
there, too.

Perhaps a little closer (though not by much), there are Barnacle Geese
in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

But the real mystery is the Xantus's Hummingbird showing up on ebirdmap
at the tip of Long Island. Alas, I couldn't find anything about this
bird on any of the NY bird lines.

As Rob H. noted earlier, he, Lisa S., my friend Ed & I tried to find
something of this caliber at Hains Pt. this past Saturday. The 2 pipits
that Rob mentioned were great, but not quite the same as a ground-dove.
We also had 2 Pine Siskins at the point, so at least they've made it
down there too.

Good birding,
