We had a nice late morning walk on the C&O Canal from Pennyfield Lock to Blockhouse Point today. Highlights were five Rusty Blackbirds feeding in the Canal (water is very low so lots of muddy edges for them to explore) and a Fox Sparrow in the same area (near the second impoundment as one walks upstream). We also had Field and Swamp Sparrows along with other expected birds. 38 species overall. Complete report from eBird follows.
