A couple of years ago, My son took a picture of a Sora in DC while it walked
under and around parked cars, apparently looking for something to eat. I
don't recall the location.

Subject: [MDOSPREY] Kiwi in DC?
John Kelly's column in the Washington Post this morning has an amusing
anecdote about his cabdriver spotting a small brown duck-like bird crossing
15th St. NW. The story ends with a (presumably tongue in cheek) suggestion
that it might have been a kiwi! My wife and I concluded that it sounds like
a Virginia rail. I recall that one was spotted near the African art museum
on the mall a few years ago. The column didn't say where on the 15th St. it
was found. Maybe Jim Felley could keep a lookout? Anyone else?
