I was a late arrival at Irvine Nature Center today and it paid off for me (finally). I observed the NORTHERN SHRIKE from 3:40 - 4:00 pm. The shrike was not in the left side tree line dividing the two fields as others reported. Instead, I originally found him (her) in the lower edge of the field beyond the left tree line, perching on the plastic sapling protection sleeves. He then worked his way along the tree line that is next furthest left along the field. I lost sight of him around 4:00pm after sending a text to report my find to my girlfriend.

Other nice birds included FOX SPARROW and NORTHERN HARRIER.
