I think Bryan must have seen an advance copy. You can preorder a copy of the
Second Breeding Bird Atlas from JHU Press using the form on the MOS website.
MOS members get a substantial discount. According to JHU Press the copies are
on a boat in the Pacific heading this way. You can also preorder it from
Amazon for about the same price as the JHU Press discount. Amazon estimates
delivery in early January.

Subject: [MDOSPREY] It's coming! MD Breeding Bird Atlas

I was doing a booksigning Friday night for the Johns Hopkins Press, and
there were a half dozen copies of the Second MD Breeding Bird Atlas for
sale. (However, the JHU website says it is "not yet published".)

It looks wonderful! Each bird has a color photo rather than a pen and ink
sketch. There is lots more data in tabular form regarding the status of
the species and with comparisons to the last atlas.

Congratulations to Walter Ellison, editor. This was a huge job! And
congrats to all the photographers, and the hundreds of birders who spent
time in the field gathering data.

Since it is not yet officially published, I don't know how you can get a
copy. No doubt Walter will tell you once he knows. But they are no doubt
coming very soon!
