My son has worked in Alaska for the past 4 summers out of Petersburg, which
is about 100 miles south of Juneau. I forwarded him this discussion and
this is his response.
"This is not anything new. As long as I've worked for the forest service
I've been aware of that. There is a poster in the office with some contact
information. I've also seen a lot of northwestern crows, murders of them
flock together in the hundreds sometimes, and they are fairly prevalent
around town and knocking off and eating the suet in my backyard. Never seen
one of the deformities, but of course Alaska is a big state, and saying
"coastal Alaska" is sort of like saying in a cornfield in the Midwest.
