Howdy,

Jim Stasz, Ed Boyd, Jared Fisher, Becky Bangert, Mike Burchett and I birded multiple stops in Allegany and Garrett today. The bird-of-the-day was a young NORTHERN SHRIKE spotted by Jim and Ed (seen by all) on Russell Road in Garrett.

Though birding was fairly slow, there were a few other highlights:
Flock of 14 COMMON RAVENS also on Russell Rd (Stasz)
Several FOX and AMERICAN TREES SPARROWS and a (YELLOW) PALM WARBLER on Old Legislative Rd, Allegany Co.
Three river otters were in the water across the bridge from Piney Reservoir.

Documentation photo of the shrike at http://www.flickr.com/photos/mattyfioner/

cheers,
Matt
