Spent a very nice morning at Terrapin Beach Park this morning. The highlight was a very cooperative Orange-crowned Warbler that Amanda and I watched for several minutes in full sun at a distance of less than 10 yards. It was actively feeding on small insects in a small (~ 5 ft tall) Russian olive tree and then in some green brair and other low shrubs about 3 - 4 ft off the ground. This was along the main path on the bay side at the furthest point out (across from the bay bridge) before the path curves sharply to the west along the field. There were several sweet gum trees in this area as well that were loaded with Goldfinches and Red-winged Blackbirds, eating the seeds. We spotted 2-4 Pine Siskins in the Goldfinch flock.

We also had great looks at perched raptors: adult Red-shouldered, juv. Sharp-shinned, and a Red-tail that was quite on the light side. 2 adult Bald Eagles were also seen as well as 3 flyover Tundra Swans. Surprisingly low sparrow diversity today with only White-throated, Song, and Field seen (and Junco). Had one Gray Catbird and ~ 16 Cedar Waxwings, which were nice. 40 species for the morning, full list below.
