I made another trip back to Assateague Island today with Joe Byrnes and Jeff
Culler. As we previously reported the Ash-throated Flycatcher was posing for
pictures near the Life in the Marsh Trail parking lot. Other highlights
included an Orange-crowned Warbler in the same general area as the
flycatcher. Jim Stasz pointed out that the Water Bush is a good plant to
find Orange-crowns. We later found two more Orange-crowned Warblers at the
back of Bayside Development Pond and you guessed it - in Water Bush.
At the Ocean City Inlet there were 9 Common Eiders, 2 Harlequin Ducks, and a
Black Skimmer along with the usual suspects. The Purple Sandpiper count is
increasing with 30 landing on the north jetty along with Rudy Turnstones.
I heard a report of two Razorbills flying by Ocean City but we did not see
them at our sea watch.
