A first winter RED-NECKED GREBE was present on the lake at Piney Run Park this afternoon around 3 pm. (large brownish gray grebe, long and thick dirty orange-yellow bill which had brighter color at its base; dark crown and a pale ear patch; long thick neck - pale throat and breast, darker mid neck; back of neck dark; thrusted head and neck forward as it swam. I didn't see it fly).

Also on the lake:
Canada Goose 300
American Wigeon 4
Mallard 14
Ring-necked Duck 170
Bufflehead 12
Hooded Merganser 69
Ruddy Duck 11
Pied-billed Grebe 6
American Coot 4
Ring-billed Gull 80

The SANDHILL CRANE was busy harrassing the Canada geese at Shiloh and Panther Roads in Hampstead at noon today.
