Lake Artemesia in College Park was rather slow today for waterfowl.
Best birds were the 7 hooded mergansers in the north pool, lesser
scaup in both pools, and a couple of small rafts of ruddy ducks.
About 200 Canada geese, mostly in the south pool, included one whose
white chin strap extends completely around its neck and onto its nape
and upper neck.  Land birds included a very bright fox sparrow halfway
around the east side of the south pool in addition to the usual
white-throated and song sparrows.
