Here in Washington County the hunting "laws" are regularly ignored by a
small fraction of hunters - which, of course, ruins the image for the
majority of the hunters here (both deer and duck) who are responsible and
obey the DNR regulations. On more than one occasion I've been chased
indoors, ON MY OWN LAND, while birding in the winter by the sound of
too-close rifle shots below South Mountain. The majority of that land is
private. Only the Appalachian Train on the top of the ridge is public land
(until you get way up to Catoctin SP).
