I checked Piney Run this afternoon for the Red-necked Grebe but came up 
empty in an hour of searching. I was scanning the main lake during that 
time and did not get to the back areas east of and away from the marina, 
so the bird could still be present. I basically got run out by the park 
personnel when at about 3:45 I was notified that they were going to 
close the gates and I had to get moving. The main part of the lake held 
some decent numbers of waterfowl, just not the target grebe. The number 
of Hooded Mergansers on the lake was remarkable.
