Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from November 29,2010
This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
The summary of bird observations that follows was taken by permission
from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and MD Port Administration, November
2010, Fauna Monitoring Report for the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration
Project at Poplar Island.
Note the presence of many Brown Pelicans, Common Loons and
Bonaparte's Gulls. Note also the sighting of the large total numbers of
ducks, especially Ruddy Ducks and Lesser Scaup.
Weather: Clear early a.m. and partly cloudy thereafter
