I found the late Ovenbird at the exact same location as yesterday morning as it foraged along the paved trail along the backside of the Schoolhouse Pond. The bird was along and on the path in the vicinity of a manhole cover and towards the observation platform at the rear of the pond. It was in the company of lots of White-throated Sparrows, Juncos, and a few Song Sparrows. Other birds included lots of Canada Geese, 45 Northern Shovelers, 1 Coot, several goldfinch, 2 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 1 Hermit Thrush, a few of the commoner species of woodpeckers, and 1 Great Blue Heron. One immature Bald Eagle also flew over.

Also, there were large numbers of flyover gulls including over 100 Ring-billed Gulls, 52 Herring Gulls, and 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull, all heading towards the landfill. And, there was a layer of ice over most of the pond this morning and the gulls were already beginning to gather on it. There were 45 or so Ring-billed Gulls on the ice as I left the pond for work, but gulls were still dropping in, as well as streaming overhead towards the landfill.
