I've had the fam on feeder alert for Evening Grosbeaks this year with the smattering of sightings throughout the Mid-Atlantic area. Well, the fam just called with, "There's a grosbeak at the feeder". Immediately my work dedication started waivering, the knees were weakening and the brain was whirling with thoughts of what to do next. Leave. Stay. Leave and come back. Punt.

Well if I were to leave, here's the problem; I wasn't going to see an Evening Grosbeak (last seen in yard 1996, last seen personally 2008 Adirondacks). Turns out we don't have a Yellow-and-Black Winter Beauty, we apparently have a female Rose-breasted Grosbeak coming around. I was fooled too. I will look into this a little further over the weekend.
