For everyone's information, we looked for the GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW late
this afternoon, between 3:15 and 4:00. There were many White-throats and
White-crowneds working under the bushes in the previously described area. I
was not aware of hearing the GC's chip note, but we heard its call, the
shrill descending glissando, twice. Later the bird appeared in the grass
between the bushes and the road for a minute or so, not wonderful looks, in the
fading daylight, but adequate. (No photo ops, though.)
We spent a little time looking for the Rough-legged Hawk, but did not see
it, though we did see Amanda Spears, who had not been able to find it
either.
